Well, we have passed the milestone of 1,000 eggs . I've had the girls for just over 15 months. We've missed a few days thanks to broodiness and a 3 week softie spree but the girls done well .

 

Thanks to Suzy for this:

being in sales I did a payout analysis and worked out they needed to turn out 1,182 eggs for the cost of the eglu vs cost of eggs that i would buy in Sainsburys (and I'd always have bought free range!) In a month, we've had 69 eggs, so at this rate in 17 months the eglu and the chooks will have paid for themselves,

 

If you factor in all the little extras, it'll only be another 3 years before they really have paid for themselves .

Very well done to those girls - just think of the pleasures you have had with them - I am still getting eggs in the coldest days so I am grateful to them although not very many its enough to keep me going and one is moulting but looking better. I have a long way to go to catch up with you though.
