Change to Firefox!

Recommended Posts

I am using FF atm but I really dont like it :( .

It seems to be slower than IE, and the page loads in little sections ..

Also, the 'quote' button on here isnt showing up anywhere .. :? .

Any ideas Fred?

Its probs your computer not FF, what spec is it? (hard drive size, amount of RAM, what version of windows etc)

Strange thing, if you want to jump "back" a few pages you have to click beside "forward" to get the list of previous pages :? .

Or is that just me :? .

Although ..... I've just gone "back" and when I've gone "forward" again, my post text is still there  . It used to annoy me when the forum got updated that your text would all disappear if you went back a page to check something  .

For everyone who wants to go back onto IE (why??), download the update from here

I can't agree more Fred, Firefox is so much better than IE why go back? I would also recommend ditching Windows altogether and switching to Ubuntu Linux. It's a bit scary at first if you are used to Microsoft stuff, but in general is just as good as Windows, costs nothing and doesn't suffer from viruses and the like. I am not saying it is bomb proof but it is more secure. The only downside I find with Linux is it isn't very good from a gaming point of view although a lot of Windows games can be run via 'Wine' (windows emulator).

I am really glad I binned Windows, it's the best computing decision I ever made. :D:wink:

I've thought of doing that but wasn't sure about how all the programs I use would work - would they still run, or would I need to reinstall them etc etc?

Most of them wouldn't work but you could probably find open source equivalents. Open Office for instance would replace Microsoft Office and is virtually the same in usabilty and it comes with it. Windows based games are a bit trickier but some can be run using Wine.

You can actually try it without installing it as it will run the fun operating system from the install CD. I found that quite useful my my Hard drive died, I was still able to get on line and order a new one!

The only problem I had was I can no longer run my dodgy copy of AutoCad, but hey I shouldn't have been doing that anyhow! I am a good lad now, no piracy at all
