We have used it for a couple of years now & would never go back to IE

Yes, just delete it. But the chances are that you will like it and you wont want to change back.

You can keep IE too Clare.

I use it for the Abbey banking online thing, which won't work with FF, but only use it for that.

 

FF is worth it for the extra applications & add ons alone, but is also less clunky,quicker & easier to use than IE

There is an add on for FF that lets you view webpages in IE , incase they dont work on FF .

We've had FF for a while and i prefer it to IE. My brother inlaw is a techie and adviced us to us FF. Guess what i'll be doing next time im at my parents

We've just changed but we also use Windows mail for email and it won't connect now as it is linked to Internet Explorer. Any ideas which settings I need to change to make it work with Firefox, Fred?

Thats strange....Ditch it and change to Thunderbird, its make by the same guys who make Firefox and its very quick and easy to use.

i didn't think you could delete IE or are you saying you have to have it open to use windows mail? because i don't.

Whatever you do, Do Not delete IE, it is needed for windows to run smoothly.

thats what i thought so i wouldn't without checking, so why wouldn't their windows mail work, strange maybe they did delete it?

No, I didn't delete it. I don't know why it wouldn't work but it wouldn't check for email when I was using Firefox rather than IE. We are using IE again but have boosted our security settings to max as advised on the BBC news website. They seem to think that as long as your computer has good security, it should be OK to use IE.

Fred, thanks for this topic, many of us will have heard it on the news but not acted yet.

 

Now, can you explain slowly; if I download Firefox and browse I'll be OK, but IE is still there running windows?

But, is that all I need to do? Previous browsing via IE won't still be there providing criminal access? Sorry, it's beyond me....

 

Plus, should I def. go & download that now, is there anything I won't understand when I get there?
