New Year's Resolutions!

Recommended Posts

Has anybody made any yet?

I think I am going to try to be nicer to myself - by having a regular spell of 'me' time. That has been pretty non existent this year.

I also need to lose a lot of weight before my brother's wedding and my son's 18th Birthday in May - otherwise I will not be able to let anyone take my photo as usual!!

Does anyone want to join a lose weight support group? We could let each other know what we have lost during the week - not what we weigh!

Anyway Happy New Year everyone

I started a new year resolution thread before spotting this one so I'll repeat myself here anyway!

I going to try and eat only raw food one day a week. I have a friend who mostly only eats "Raw". I'm hoping for some tips and support from her.

I'd also like to make some time to learn quilting and cake decorating.

I just saw an episode of american Wife Swap where one of the wives only ate raw food. She was a fanatic though and was forcing all of her family to do the same (hubby was not so keen), they had no cooker. Her next thing was that she was trying to cut out food all together and get all of her energy from the sun!!! I fell asleep before the end though so I don't know if the programme made her change anything.

I read an article about a woman in Australia who called herself a 'breatharian' she swore she ate nothing and got all her nutrients and energy from the air  I have no idea if she is still alive.

last year was pretty tough so I think I shall just chill out a bit more and have some fun without getting too stressed about daft things that don't really matter I've decided not to worry about people who stress me and make me feel bad even if they are related to me and concentrate on those who are important people in my life. Sounds a bit heavy I know but its a huge change for me and I'm looking forward to a year where I can be me warts & all and not worry

She actually was - her poor (stupid!) husband worked all hours whilst she did NOTHING except yoga. All the family were on this raw food diet and she was trying this sun thing - Now I'm a veggitarian but I don't force that on any of my family - I think that had been her first thing and then the raw food and now the sun thing.

The raw food diet sounds interesting BUT I think it's one of those things thats open to misinterpritation and extremeism. Also I prefer some foods cooked - cakes are definatly better this way!!!

I know their digestive systems are probably different, but I always think that if a big animal like an elephant can live on raw food, then so can we humans. I'm all for a bit of balance and moderation though, and I believe small changes are the way to bring about bigger changes in the long run. My theory is that if I can eat a raw food diet one day a week it will add to the diversity of my diet overall. (I can still eat cake the other 6 days  )

I think you might find that unlike, most herbivores, we have an extremely undeveloped appendix, as we are not designed to extract everything we need from raw food and we are unable to digest the cellulose in the cell wall of plant material. Sorry to get techinical. BTW, I love salad and raw veg!!

Hi Everyone

Although it is winter time and it is not recommended that you weight I all for it.

My down fall is "getting low" and then hitting the chocolate and biscuits.

But I am going to try and get my weight down.

Will make my health better.

Best regards for 2009.

Ian
