Dirty Vent

Recommended Posts

I have a hen who is prone to a dirty bum. We wash her every now an again in warm water with a bit of ecover and blow dry her...she loves it. She has sterile peronitis so tends to poo on her own feathers because of this.

Dirty bums could be a sign of lice, worms or simply over indulging on treats.

Give the hen the once over for lice (you would clearly see them around the bum area)

When mine started to do this she had worms :vom: . She also laid a softie (which she never had before, missed days of laing and started to ay ghostly pale eggs (usually lays normal brown ones) so keep an eye and maybe worm her, this sorted my girlie out.

My Maddy sometimes gets a mucky bum and has no health problems. She has such a fluffy behind that anything but the perfect poo seems to be prone to sticking to the feathers. We just dunk her in a bowl of warm soapy water and give her a rinse off, dry well with a fluffy towel and blow dry if the day is anything but very warm. She loves it bless her but what girl wouldn't like a nice bubble bath
