Does anyone have a Cri-cut?

Recommended Posts

I've seen some discussions about this, but people preferred the craft robo - seems you can design your own templates, rather than just use pre-designed stuff. I've also seen some amazing things made with the robo! Have a look here:

This is one of my favourites: (do a search for this posters other projects - they are amazing!)

Hi

I bought a cricut in october of last so am still gettting used to it, but I have to say that so far I really can't find fault with it. I went for the bigger of the two machines, the expressions. There is a good range of cartridges for the cricut, with new ones on the way. When you look at the back of the cartridge box it shows nowhere near what you can do with it. If you take a look at 'youtube' and type in 'cricut' you'll see loads of videos about what it can do.

I don't really mind about not being able to design my own things. There's a piece of software that you can buy to use the cricut with the pc, so it might be worth checking this out.

I've used mine for my forhtcoming wedding in April this year. So far it's cut out boxes for the favours, bags for the confetti, place cards, table mats and it will also be helping me after the wedding to do my own wedding album as there is a lovely cartridge called 'storybook'.

My advice would be to go to a local craft shop and ask if they'll give you a demo. I'll be happy to answer anymore questions, just PM me.

Thanks, Lisa, I never thought of searching for videos on YouTube - I'll do that later.

Good luck with the wedding stationery, I've done several sets over the past few years and I think the Cricut would have come in very handy. I have cut every piece with a scalpel and rule. Good job they were all for friends/relatives because I could never make a living doing it that way!

I forgot to say in my last post that you can also buy pens for the cricut so that it can draw all the shapes too. I've had a quick look at the craftrobo on youtube and my first impressions weren't great, but I suppose I'm a biased cricut owner now!!! It seems more pc reliant than the cricut. I like the fact that I can use the cricut in any room in the house and I don't have to connect it to my pc, especially when I'm doing batches of something and I can 'feed' it paper/card in between doing other jobs.
