susanbb
The girls' turn this week. Big cheers for Coleen Nolen from the crowd.
Hen Watch
I love this program. But I have to say that I didn't think the girls were as "good" or "entertaining" as the boys........(my hubbie would disagree of course).
KimmyCustard
I love it too. Saw the repeat on BBC3 today, was amazed when Claire Bissix was flung out on the first round! She says she is the D.O.I number one fan, how miffed must she be?! As Jason said though, Too much mouth and not enough work! Think Zoe thingy is good. Ice skating makes my ankles ache but I'll have another go one day! Kimmy x
susanbb
Gemma Bissix was truly gutted wasn't she It does often help when they either have a big fan base like Coleen Nolen or are extremely talented like the 2 girls at the top this week. It'll be interesting to see if Todd Carty becomes the John Sergent of DOI
Seagazer
I must admit I think I preferred the boys last week to the girls although Jessica was very good but didn't seem to have a sparkle with her partner. They hardly looked at each other. Its a shame Gemma went out, I didn't particularly like the way she came across in the chatting bit, but I like her partner Andre (I think thats his name anyway). They seemed to have quite a good partnership going on. Colleen will give Todd a run for his money as the next John Sargent though. I have to say that I hated most of the girls make up this week. Especially Melinda's eye make up - yuk. It looked like she could hardly get her eyes open.
..lay a little egg for me
I have to say that I hated most of the girls make up this week. Especially Melinda's eye make up - yuk. It looked like she could hardly get her eyes open. Me too...Melinda looked like she'd had a stroke or something as one eye particularly seemed hard to open. DOI just doesn't have the class of SCD does it?
susanbb
I like both SCD and DOI. To me they are 2 completely different disciplines and I like them both for that. Mind you to have to wear a set of blades and try and keep yourself from falling on the ice and safe would take a lot of concentration and you'd have to be so commited( as you would in Strictly) . I reckon I'd be a bit like Todd Carty, as much as you said that you enjoyed it, I don't think I'd be very good at it To be honest I thought the guys were better than the girls were this week. Is it this Sunday when they compete against each other
Seagazer
Yes I think its a free for all this weekend. On This Morning yesterday (I don't normally watch it obviously I'm normally too busy ) Gemma came up with the idea that they have boys first week, girls second week but that "Ooops, word censored!"ody goes out until they are all mixed together. I quite like that idea because it must be upsetting to do all those weeks of training and then to go out on the first go. Mind you I suppose you could then say the same for SCD. I do think DOI is harder though. Speaking as someone who has only ever gone around an ice rink twice and decided that at age 44 it reallys is not for me
susanbb
I suppose Gemma may have a point. They could probably get round it by letting people vote on the first week for their "favourite" but they then carry it over the votes to when they are all competing together. I wonder if the ITV bosses watch This Morning or read the topics in this forum
..lay a little egg for me
I like both SCD and DOI. To me they are 2 completely different disciplines and I like them both for that. Mind you to have to wear a set of blades and try and keep yourself from falling on the ice and safe would take a lot of concentration and you'd have to be so commited( as you would in Strictly) Oh yes, I quite agree, its just that SCD has more style re make up costumes, presentation, music etc. DOI is much more "in your face". Although I suppose the make up has to be heavy so that it can be seen from a distance by the rink-side audience, can't be right if the stars can't open their eyes! I would certainly much rather have a go at ballroom than ice skating! Last time I went skating was boxing day 2007...I fell on my knee and it still hurts over a year later. How the celebs cope with constantly falling down I just don't know.
Phonix
sorry guys but i cannot stand SCD. Love DOI though - yes the makeup can be heavy but having been in the audience for the tour it is needed to even make it look they're wearing a lttle bit from the sidelines (and i was almost the front row)! As for the girls...i heard somewhere girls have it harder due to the (trying to think of a polite way to say it) top-heaviness in some of them so balance can be an issue especially as it is on v.think blades - people seem to forget this and think its just like dancing on solid ground! I think Zoe and Jessica were both fab and think a few of the men were awful - i think colleen just needs more confidence but she LOOKS amazing! Ray was good but i think to really like him id need to cut of his head (sorry) he just really really annoys me and always has! x
susanbb
I've just started watching the european figure Skating on BBC2. They started off by showing Torvell and Dean's, Bolero. Always give me goosebumps. Amazing
susanbb
Todd Carty At least he got a sense of humour
fluffyfeet
Todd Carthorse, sorry Carty, if there was a DOI trophy for comedy he'd have just won it hands down. Funniest thing I've seen on there - still can't work out whether the trip and leaving the rink was a genuine mistake or deliberate.
Hen Watch
Todd made me laugh out loud when he shot off the ice...... He's going to end up as the next John Sargent at this rate.
Joojoo
I can't see Todd going anywhere after tonight other than perhaps down that tunnel again  How funny was that? I wouldn't be at all surprised if he is deliberately kept in now as Hen Watch commented
Seagazer
Todd was hilarious wasn't he Apparently they did choreograph him going down the tunnel but not quite as bad as he did it. We were cracking up. Thought Ray was brilliant again and Jessica was very good. I'm glad the make up seemed more muted this week
Phonix
who went i missed the second show as i was travelling back to liverpool? xXx
Seagazer
Jeremy went. It was him and Ellery in the bottom two and Ellery came out with more gusto than Jeremy. I actually think that Jeremy thought the judges would choose him over Ellery no matter how he skated. He was definitely the worst out of the two in the skate off (although it should have been Todd ). missuscluck
I think Ray Quinn is amazing. Streets ahead of the rest. I love Todd Carty. So funny. Im not surprised he got through. Its not for his skating skills, its just because we all like him. Go Tucker!
