poachedegg
Just had a boiled egg.....though didn't eat it as under the yolk it was all black/dark - any ideas?
cherryblossom
Are we talking totally black or just around the yolk? Was it definatly fresh?
Cooks
that's an odd one isn't it!.
Jules.
Was it soft or hard boiled? Hard boiled eggs can get a black rim around the yolk if they are not plunged into cold water immediately after cooking.
Cooks
and also if they are over cooked/boiled I pictured Poached meaning something else though, any pictures? edited to add I just googled (as you do still in your jammies at this time in the morning) and found it's a bad egg! read this... http://www.bigpinkcookie.com/2003/09/02/the-bad-egg/
poachedegg
It wasn't the yolk - imagine slicing the top off your egg - the smaller top bit was fine, it was under the yolk in the main bit, not around the edge but in the white bit underneath and there was quite a lot of it. The egg was softish boiled and was a couple of days old.

poachedegg
I didn't notice that it smelt. I have just done some baking and used 3 eggs that were immediately after the offending one on the egg skelter and they seem to be fine. Obviously just a blip.
