Ain't Nobody Here
Lovely pics & very contented chickens . I like your log roll thingy - where did it come from? And that's a good idea, having the door opening inwards .
nutterly_uts
Its megazorb which is the cardboard based bedding I think? I have it throughout with the hope it won't turn to mush now it can't get wet Log roll is bamboo edging from B&Q which from memory was £6ish for 1metre? The door opening inwards needs a bit of adjusting.. I should have really just unclipped the front and turned it round and done some sort of toggle, but I went for the easier option at the mo!! Ain't Nobody Here
I've been trying to find something else to prevent hemcore kickage (my whirlygig covers are very tatty looking ). I think OH would notice if I spent a lot of money so I've been looking around for something cheap. What do you think of this stuff? It's only 6.5" high which is a lot less than my current covers - would that be high enough to keep the hemcore in? It comes in a 9m length which would be perfect . http://www.podington.co.uk/lawn-edging/durable-plastic-lawn-edging.html
nutterly_uts
Could very well be. I like it, as I found easibed/auboise to be a bit scratchy and I worried about my chickens feet. A friend got a rescue roo with bumblefoot, and the auboise seemed to make it worse, so I think its probably an unfounded worry. Aint.. I think it would work? Best way to keep stuff in ime is a coverall tarpauline

We use lengths of decking planks from B&Q - they weren't very expensive and do a very good job.
brambles
That looks gorgeous - we've just jetwashed the eglu today and refreshed all the bedding/run surface. Isn't it good to be spick and span (until they've spent 10 mins in there!)

It works well at stopping the easibed leaking out but can be a bit of a pain when cleaning the run out as some of the dirty stuff gets trapped in the crinkly bits between the edging and the mesh. Thes pictures were taken when we first put it up, in October time and its still up.
TAJ
Looks great. The bedding looks lovely and comfy. I am eying up the beautiful Light Sussex hen. On my wish list. My light Sussex is brilliant for a pure breed they are really hardy and good layers - but have you got room for any more? Tracy
