The photo of the dog with the hook was enough for me

I couldn't click on the 2nd link, as was too horrified that such things went on.

Me too Emma. I remember campaigning for IFAW back in the 1970s against cruelty to dogs being kept for food in Indonesia. It is so distressing to realise that inhumane practices like this still go on. :(

this issue has been known about since 2005. A little googling/digging has revealed this...

I don't think you need to distress yourselves too much as there is a copy of a letter received from the French Embassy in Washington which states that the French Minister for agriculture is aware and has put various measures in place. As I say though, this dates back to 2005.

The trouble with the net is things go round and round ad infinitum when the issue is old hat :?

I'd say that if you are still concerned then write to your MP or the French Embassy and ask them if the practice still exists, let's hope it doesn't!

WHY!?!?!? would people do this to these beautiful animals. I just cannot believe this. What a truly disgusting, barbaric and pointless way for these animals to die. I've tried to watch the video, but had to stop it after only a few seconds, I am sick to my stomach and will have many sleepless nights. WHY?!?!?!

I didnt know about the live shart bait thing going on in Reunion Island  , that island is in the Seychelles I believe and I never saw anything like that going on when we went there.

Barbaric, awful.

I have signed too. Could not watch the video. :(

Just wanted to correct that Reunion is not part of the Seychelles. It is the same ocean but, Seyechelles is an independent country while Reunion is governed by France.
