Ecky
Just been out to powder my chicken with diatomic earth, as I think they might have some parasites on them, and also to get used to handling them. I've managed to catch Janeway and 7 of 9 nicely in the cube run. Powdered them and put them into the cube for a moment (through the egg port). Went back in to catch Kes and she managed to squeeze herself through a tiny little gap I've left. PANIC, how do I get her back. She loved it, running around the garden and the bushes, but no good, Mr Fox will be around soon. PANIC! OK, breathe, didn't I read something on the forum about a corn track to get them back in. So I've fetched the corn, laid a track and some corn in the run, stand back. Juhu, it worked wonders she walked back in. I've closed the door and run properly up again and she will have to wait for a powdering until next time. By now I've heard the neighbour in the garden, I bet he heard the commotion and came out to check. I'd rather let him stand out there wondering what he has heard PANIC over thanks to the you folks ...... THANKS

C&T
I've never had to do ANYthing like bribe them back in when they escape... (Although mine prefer dried mealworms.... For some reason they don't like corn anymore... )

Gamebird
Blimey Ecky, that's a bit too energetic for me. Whenever my girls need any medicinal applications I always do it about an hour after they have gone to bed. They then become very docile and willing. A torch and a willing helper is all you need. Ecky
Blimey Ecky, that's a bit too energetic for me. Whenever my girls need any medicinal applications I always do it about an hour after they have gone to bed. They then become very docile and willing. A torch and a willing helper is all you need. I was just thinking of the neighbours (being my paranoid self) At the time I've done it the ones that can look into our garden were out. So I've taken my chance. The neighbour on the other side has a monster hedge, so he can't see anything and is slightly deaf. The chicken aren't used to handling yet, so the racket was considerable. Once they know me better and can sit calmly in my arm, I will do it after dark. The willing helper might be problem as well, the doggies would love to help, but I've rather not , the hubby has to be in the right mood.
