Long time no Omleting - Recent pics of my girls *updated*

Recommended Posts

Some of you may remember me from back last summer when i collected my 5 beautiful ex-bat girls and seemed to spend my whole life on this site and i thought it was about time i re-became an avid omleteer!

Have had a mixed 9 months - 3 of them getting seriously ill (all at different times with crop infections), luckily after some fantastic care from a bird specialist an hour away from us, 2 of them were fully restored, but unfortunately we lost our beautiful girl Thelma a few days before our honeymoon after they had done all they could.

We got married back in October and our cake was made with our girls lovely eggs - a touch our guests loved and i was thrilled to have them involved in the day! I would of had them as bridesmaids if i thought my husband would have let me!!

9 months on....i never imagined i could have so much love for these little feathery babies. We even found out this week that our baldest hen Martha who is now the fattest of them all is going to be featured in the next BHWT newsletter :D I'm such a proud mummy hen!!

The girls and me are very much looking forward to the nicer weather....but for now i have attached some of my favourite photos of the girls in the recent snow we have been having!

P.s Excuse the messy kitchen and blurry photo at the bottom but couldn't resist sharing the cuteness of it!

Oh no!! Me and technical things never did get on that well!

Have had a second attempt at photots!!

Thanks for the replies!

I am so proud of their progress...i did a video diary of their first couple of weeks and when i see that now and old photos of them, i can't believe they are the same girls. You almost can't remember the sorry state they came out in.

Am pleased to have the omlet ladies and gents to share it with again as most people who don't own chickens, don't understand how wonderful they are!

Thanks Ain't "Ooops, word censored!"ody Here - it was certainly a talking point!!

Thanks Chrissie.

They were laying roughly 2 eggs a day (between the 4/5 of them) up until about 2 months ago. I'm very proud of them actually as the vet told us that 'normal' chickens should stop laying for the winter and he was concerned they wouldn't do this, but they have :D What clever girls i have.

I don't mind if they never lay another egg....as long as they stay healthy and enjoy their new lives, i'm a happy chicken mummy!!
