sti chick
Sorry if this has been asked before and i expect it has many times but can chickens eat raw carrots and the peelings?? or do they have to be cooked liked potatos?? lin
The Dogmother
Carrots are fine, but I find that they aren't keen on them. Potatoes are poisonous when raw, hence the need to cook them. You might have some luck mixing grated carrot in with some other goodies, but TBH I don't bother and just feed carrots to the bunnies. Willow
Mine love the peelings and are less interested in left over cooked carrot.

fluffyknickers
I offered mine carrot peelings - not interested. However saying that they actually havent been interested in any treats apart from corn (go mad for it) and any slugs/snails/worms I find! x
Millihelen
If you haven't any worms - try cooked spaghetti instead! Mine go mad for it - in fact I cook it specially for them now. OH says I never cook anything specially for him.....
fluffyknickers
My husband has already moaned that a) I am doing more for the chooks than him and b) they are better fed - cheek of it! PS I did tell him I would hang some broccoli above his bed for him to peck but he declined
Millihelen
You have just inspired me to go and hang up the left over cauliflower that's in the fridge. For the chooks - not my husband!
Hen Watch
oh dear .....they didn't like them Oh but then neither did mine 2 years ago. All 4 absolutely refused to touch carrot peelings unless they were cooked. Then recently I chucked a load in raw and they fell on them in a frenzy...... obviously getting less fussy in their old age.
