New cube questions about positioning etc!:)

Recommended Posts

Hi!

My lovely purple cube is assembled!:) I love it.

Now i need to ask questions about where 2 put it!

Hubby said about putting it on the gress, however i am worried this will turn to mush!

I have a sliver at the end of the garden next to the garden path so i am thinking maybe i should dig out the flower bed there (mainly weeds anyway) and lay some additional slabs. How would i counteract drainage issues?

Also if i put the run up the corner i wont be able to have the mesh skirt one side because of the block base of the fence, so should i cut it and keep it incase we ever reposition the run?

where do i get the ambroise stuff and how much is it?

:D There won't be any grass after a few days!

Aubiose is about £9 a bale (mind you I haven't bought any recently, I find a bale lasts ages) and you buy it from equestrian suppliers. It soaks up the wet really well, but if possible I'd cover your run with a plastic shower curtain or similar, to stop it getting too wet.

If you have it on slabs, I think you need to build in a slight slope for drainage, but lots of people find this works well with a layer of aubiose/hemcore on to to soak up moisture and give the girls something to scratch in.

Can't advise re the run skirt, I'd be inclined to leave it attached I think and just position the run far enough out so you don't have to cut it. I'm assuming you are planning to butt the right-hand side up to the fence, but you'd need enough room to pull the door handle out if you ever want to close it.

Hope this helps, anyway!

Why not try it. You can always move them further away if you change your mind. :D The slabs will wash down afterwards. I would love to have them by the house but OH says no so can't tell you if they would make the house smell. :?

I have mine on slabs and they can scratch and dig in the bedding as if they were on ground. I did put it quite thick though.
