BocBoc
This makes for some very interesting reading - you all have lovely gardens. Our girls should be arriving tomorrow and I've been panicking about cutting the lawn ready for their arrival - I don't think I need to bother!! We have a Victorian terrace with a brick walled garden which is in need of complete renovation. We have a lawn area which is as lumpy as hell and the rest of needs a bomb dropping on it!! I have grown vegetables for the last two years but haven't yet decided on anything for the patch this year - I was hoping to get fruit off the strawberry plants I put in last summer but it sounds like I'll have to put a barrier of some description up to stop the girls from nibbling our berries!! I was hoping they would be fab at slug patrol....
C&T
I was hoping they would be fab at slug patrol.... I'm wondering this too! Have to keep them off the veg patch so they dont eat the plants, but then I don't want to put slug pellets down with the feathered fiends wandering about! I believe crushed egg shells make good slug deterrent - although never tried it before. Have to see if that works...
Mrs Slats
For a good low plant to fill the gaps of a shrub border, I recomend one (or 5) of these http://www.shootgardening.co.uk/sitePlant.php?plantid=1357 A yukka filamentosa. Nice and tough and in fact a bit sharp - the little rascals won't go near ours!
alih
I note that some folk on the forum have plants around the cube run on the outside (of course) and it looks lovely. Any recommendations whilst we are on the topic of plants? WOuld like to plant some rosemary and thyme around it but would they scoff that do you think? Any recommendations whilst we are on the topic of plants? WOuld like to plant some rosemary and thyme around it but would they scoff that do you think? They have left my Rosemary alone - so far! Thyme I think they have left alone, I think it is the Oregano that they have eaten out of the herb tub.... They have also self medicated on the Garlic Chives - I obviously wasn't putting enough garlic powder in their food!!
