Paola
I think I might have sorted that problem. OH has just brought me a car that you can get three seats across the back I'm not jealous! Its really is nothing to be about. Its one of those little vans with windows. I think it called a Peugeot Partner

Guest
I think the word "van" is stretching it a bit. It's more a...... side-car!

Chicken on a mission
When I was looking at the next stage of seat for Esme I don't remember seeing a booster seat that she could use, maybe I was only looking at the ones with backs on? Now the new law is almost upon us there are booster seats everywhere that are supposedly suitable for her and I am concerned that parents will be going for the cheap £15 option of a booster seat without a back. 1 in 4 accidents are side impacts and the seat I got, although dear at £80, came top in its class for side impact shunts. What protection is there with a booster seat? None! Still I can't make decisions for everyone else but I do worry
Guest
I think the main reason for booster seats, is purely because seat belts are designed for people over the height of 135cm. Under that, and the seatbelt will fail to operate properly in case of an accident. So, while Caity is in a booster with a back, it just wasn't suitable for my elder boys, so the have plain old booster seats.

The Dogmother
It's fab - we went touring the UK in it last summer, and we got all our junk in easy-peasy. One of the bonuses if you've got smallsters is the headroom in the back - great if you need to get in to strap them into car seats. Oh, and loads of pockets and cubbyholes too for all the kiddie-related junk

One Man Banned
Help It is with horror that I read an updated procedure at work yesterday. We have to have a range of child seats and booster cushions in stock and they are to ONLY be fitted by a member of staff qualified and trained and signed off to fit them as Hertz will be liable. I was supposed to be trained and I haven't been yet. There's supposed to someone on each shift to cover the whole day - no one is trained yet. We also have to have information and fitting leaflets for each and every child seat we have and they all have to be numbered and accounted for. If we run out we have to go and buy one (with a request from our Regional Manager) How exactly do I manage that?!? We're at least 30 mins drive from anywhere likely to sell them and we're short staffed as it is ( hence why I haven't been for training yet!) Oh well I'm not in for the first week so they'll have to see how it goes!

Guest
I'm surprised that you are allowed to fit them - most shops refuse to do the final fitting afetr purchase, as if it is involved in a crash, and it comes loose or wasn't fitted correctly, then the parents could of course sue the fitter for quite a bit. I think Hlafords and Kwik Fit will fit them, but you probably have to sign some kind of wiaver, in case the worst should happen.
One Man Banned
You are right Every renter has to sign an acceptance form. They also state that should they remove the car and refit it it's safety cannot be guaranteed This is going to get messy I can see it! Phil (though in this particular case..... ) Of course Phil, my Boy has less hair too Emma, might see you there next year then. This year The Boy went with one of his mates and they did the whole weekend and camped. I didn't feel like playing wallflower with those two up to their usual silly antics, so didn't join them - did listen to the live broadcast though. You definitely need ear defence though
