I couldn't do it on my own DH has just started a thread on the home farmer forum and also sent the details to the editor to see if they want to run the story and show their support. Ygerna
Two things I have done to 'spread the word'. I have sent messages to my Facebook friends asking them to join the FB group, and to also spread the word. I have also updated my Facebook Status to read 'Save the Chickens! Join the Chickens NOT out! Facebook group'. I think I will change my MSN subline too....

Guest
Dear all I stumbled upon this while browsing poultry forums to try and drum up support. http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/GardenPoultry/ it states... "We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to abolish all local by-laws prohibiting the keeping of hens in gardens We believe that people should be encouraged to become self-sufficent as possible. Properly kept, domestic hens pose no nuisance to anyone. The keeping of cockerels is not included as a right in this proposal." It would be great if we could all sign it and pass it on! Ardene5
Hi Everyone Sounds more like big bother than someone with sense. It is not a commercial unit it is 2 hens. Do they think they are going to start a business up at their age. Hens provide comfort in relaxing people who watch them............ perfect for anyone with high blood pressure, the are eco friendly, give us eggs what more could anyone want from a pet. Best regards Ian & Valerie
Ardene5
Hi Everyone Cann't someone get Peter Stringfellow who has chickens involved or ask any seleb who has chickens to help in this matter? Best regards Ian & Valerie
Ana's flock
Peter Stringfellow, John Cleese, Jamie Oliver... any more? I agree, sometimes a few 'big names' carry more weight as they bring their followers with them. I've signed the petition, and will be telling my friends about it. chooklady
Have just signed the petition, I am livid, poor old couple. I don't have time to compose e-mails to the others right now, too much on my plate but if I get some time soon I will also send some to the paper, MP etc. Nicola
