tania
I know that it's not life or death but is it normal? My girls don't seem to like any of the tit-bits I keep trying to give them. They adore corn and Aretha will eat a few raisins but they won't touch greens, grapes etc. I've even given them some asgaragus that they turned their beaks up at! Am I doing anthing wrong and will it hamper their laying (no sign of an egg yet)? They are eating well and love their pellets.
fluffyknickers
Mine are the same - how long have you had yours? They are corn mad and literally fly up in the air for it! However I bought them a cabbage and they didnt even bother with it, same with strawberries, raisins and other things I thought they would love. However they do like sweetcorn so you could try this and I also made them some porridge with hot water and they 'licked' the bowl clean! I think perhaps as they start laying and getting older they may like more things. x
Chook n Boo Mum
They are like children, just because they don't like it today, doesn't mean it won't be the best thing ever tomorrow ! Sha x
tania
Hi Mazzyc I've had them for 2 weeks now, so am still very new at all this. Yes they did eat a bit of sweetcorn but that soon wained. I also bought a cabbage and hung it up in the hope that they'd eat it and also it would keep them amused. Not a peck! I just want them to have a bit of variety and some treats. They come running for the corn which is really very funny.
Hen Watch
Always come running for corn..... little madams. Don't go overboard with treats as I have found too much means drop in egg production. However on a different note, some things my girls never touched 2 years ago like lettuce and raw carrot peelings, they now love..... Their eating habits have changed since they first arrived. Egluntyne
Once they start laying they will eat most things put in front of them
Kittycat
Be grateful they love their pellets - they contain everything they need to be good layers. Working out what 'treats' they like is part of the fun I guess - mine won't touch cabbage but go wild for iceberg lettuce, grapes and cucumber.
