Mrs Webmuppet
Help....... This morning Bling has a bare bum, no knickers at all! I have sprayed the bare bit with purple spray to try to deter any further damage. I played hunt the feathers to see if I could find who( & when) did the deed, but I could only find 3 feathers.....2 in the poo tray and one floating around the run. She has only just started laying and isn't showing signs of broodyness. She is neither top or bottom chook and I have watched them from a safe distance to see if there's any bullying going on but I can't see any taking place. Has anyone got any ideas? Apart from spraying the purple spray is there anything else I can do? Edited to add..........Both Bling and Bromley have been sprayed with anti peck spray (emergency dash to pet shop in tea break at work) and Bumble has been fitted with an anti-peck ring (as head chook I thought may be it was her causing the trouble). Fingers crossed that that's that problem solved.
theherd123
Could she be having a moult do you think?
Mrs Webmuppet
I don't think it's a moult she's not very old as she has only just started laying and the feather loss has been rather dramatic. I suspect some bullying has been going on but only when I'm not looking Bromley appears to be missing a few feathers too. I just hope it all calms down soon as I no longer have any spare accomodation.
Falkor
How`s it going Mrs WM?
Mrs Webmuppet
I think it is under control. Bumble is looking pretty disgusted by the anti-peck ring and Bling & Bromley are having daily doses of some awful stinky spray from the petshop. I have checked the chooks thoroughly twice today and there's no signs of any more missing feathers. Keep your fingers crossed that it's under control.
