chick wiggle
Today, we thought we would move the cube to a fresh patch of grass. We havent had our girls a week yet and have not let them out of the run - so - we thought we would be clever and move the cube and run whilst they were still in it and just shuffle it along carefully. How stupid! Yes you quessed it - out they all came under the run. It was very funny and they enjoyed the freedom. So we moved the cube whilst they were running free. And bless them, after about 20 minutes with the lure of some yummy corn back in they popped. However it did surprise me just how high they can fly/jump and so now i really need to clip their wings. Help, ideas and any advice would be really welcome.
quickcluck
the Omlet advise is here http://www.omlet.co.uk/guide/guide.php?view=Chickens&cat=Chicken%20Care&sub=wing%20clipping It's not as bad as you think, but definately a 2 man job. a sharp pair of scissors is all that is needed
LittleBoPeep
Its not as bad as you think. Have done it with quite a few of ours. I did manage to do it myself but was holding them very tightly against me so they couldn't wriggle out. Probably easier if there are two of you around. Hen Watch
i really need to clip their wings./quote] I'm sure you know, but only clip one wing as it unbalances them for take off.
Gamebird
When I had to clip my chickens' wings I found quite helpful.
