Chicken Licken
I am thinking of adding 2 new hens to my current 2. I currently have a Bovans Nera and a Speckledy - Does anyone have Bluebelles? Having lost my 2 original Omlet girls I wonder if ones that are not such prolific layers have a better life expectancy and quality of life. What do you think? Mrs Kettle
We have a Bluebelle. She is the friendliest of our four and the most interactive, tho' not top chicken. She lays irregularly, sometimes torpedo-shaped eggs.

quickcluck
Indie can you travel for your girls? There are plenty of places about that aren't far from you, within an hour........
Guest
Hi Yes I got the poultry magazine and am prepared to travel about an hour..I am going to try Thornes end next week, as that is just down the road from me and I keep my eye on cambridge poultry but am happy to buy off a private breeder..I quite like the idea of the wyandotte bantams or orp bantams..then i want a speckledy and then a bluebell. Its such a populalr time of year it seems. I have even looked at going to some shows to buy some.. I think Thornes frightened me as he told me he would sell out over Easter!! I think there are a couple of places in Norfolk i am on holidays next week so was going to go looking. if you can recommend anywhere let me know.. as I fancy a day out and will go armed with boxes to bring them back thanks indie

Gamebird
I have two Bluebelles, Mabel and Annie. They are both very placid (as are all my girls) with very pretty, multicoloured blue, grey and light coloured feathers. The lay about 4 to 5 eggs a week, each egg weighing about 63g. Mabel is my favourite hen because she is very vocal and friendly and is the only one of my six chickens who crouches which makes her easy to pick up for a cuddle. Omletina Kyckling
You could always ring Omlet and ask if there's any chance of an earlier delivery, or if there are any cancellations? Some people have done this and been lucky and managed to get one early....
