Mel (& Paul)
I tend to do lots of "batch" cooking and freeze it so that I dont have to think too hard about what we eat in the evenings. I plan menus out so we know what to get out of the freezer. (organised little soul aint I _ Last night we had a rather delicious chicken, bacon and bean hot pot Tonight, because I was getting home early I thought I would do bangers and mash - yum! Unfortunately (& Paul) was being helpful (he is very trying............) and looked at the list, but looked at the wrong day yup, chicken bacon and bean hot pot again tonight

Mrs Frugal
Oh dear Mel . My worst mistake with the freezer was when I took out a bag of breadcrumbs to coat chicken nuggets with. The boys and I sat down to eat them and I kept thinking that they tasted a bit odd. We carried on and finished our tea regardless and when I got up to put all the cooking things away, I glanced at the label on the breadcrumbs bag. It said "Crumble Topping" ! Guest
I once served chookiehubbie a bowl of bolognaise with rice and salsa, thinking it was chilli. I couldn't work out why it didn't have any kidney beans in it, so chucked a tin in for good measure, before serving. It didn't even strike us that it had no 'kick' to it.... Mrs Frugal
Freezers can cause problems, can't they!! No matter how organised we are, fate can still trip us up!
The Dogmother
I remember my mother serving up apple pie instead of steak for main course once Mel, can I have your recipe for that hotpot - sounds delish
Lesley
It certainly tripped me up a few weeks ago when I cleared out the freezer. I came across lots of bags of last years blackberries so I decided to defrost them and make jam. Next day when I went to unwrap them I found out that the last bag I'd taken out was Braised Red Cabbage It had been on the top and had defrosted vinegary juice all through the blackberries
Mel (& Paul)
I am SO glad I am not alone - although it was (& Paul) being over anxious to please (I've trained him well ) rather than dodgy labelling You'll be pleased to hear that last night we had salmon with onion / tomato / balsamic vinegar rice
