shtw00724
Hmm, egg laying has been great with an average of 2 a day between my 3 girls but 1 of them laid an egg outside in the run the other day (don't know which one) and it smashed and then last night, I found an egg which was bumpy on the shell but the shell was so thin that it was like holding a jelly if that makes sense and the shell was virtually see through. A couple of the eggs have had some spots of blood in too. I had a quick read through the posts and is it because the girls are preffering their tuna/layers mash to their crumb and pellets? Where can I buy limestone flour from? I hope chicken keeping gets easier; I will be going white-haired with worry before much longer! LOL! Olly
You get limestone flour from equestrian shops, or you can get it online from some suppliers. If you're feeding them treats, you could try holding them off for a bit to make sure they're filling up on their pellets/mash which should meet most of their needs. It may just be a temporary blip - have they been moulting, for example? One of mine was laying softies but I'm now getting four eggs a day since she stopped moulting. (That's an egg per chicken, by the way, not four eggs from the one that was moulting!)
