craftyhunnypie
Yes we went out today, packed up some ham salad baguettes, with homemade salad cream, a couple of hot cross buns & some cans of pop. We went to a place in Stoke called Finny Gardens. If you live round here & have children, take them! It's free, it's a park & it has a small animal farm in it called City Farm. It has chickens that wander freely - it's lovely. It also has pigs, cows, goats, Llamas, rabbits, parrots, cockatiels, budgies, ferrets & a couple of Turkeys! It is really lovely & well looked after & their is a warden there to stop children being horrible to the animals. We fell in love with a white silkie who had 3 chicks, one chick found a worm & was running round like crazy. There was also frizzles & a gorgeous double laced Barnavelder, plus lots more. It just made me want more chooks. It is just off Leek road, Bucknall. Further up the road, on the right we found a Crown carvery pub called The Ashbank - so we sat in the beer garden & had a beer (well I did, as OH drove). It was really lovely to be out in the sunshine & see chickens etc. I loved it! Even though a pigeon pood on my t shirt & I had to change into just my hooded top. craftyhunnypie
Your 7 year old would love it. You can feed the animals fruit & veg. I think there was a place you could buy food for the animals from, or take your own. The cockatiels will eat from your fingers, very tame & so will some of the chickens. Think it's open until 5pm. There is a hut to buy drinks & ice cream from - but it's fun to pack a picnic. It's not far from City dogs home either, so you could also look there after - I didn't dare.
