And we're getting a copy of the survey that the last lot had done, so we can find out how much is really wrong with the house and decide whether we should fix it up before considering any more offers (and risk more buyers pulling out), or whether we should reduce the price, or do some other option that I can't think of at the moment. The people buying my house had a full independant survey done and because he couldn't find anything structural to be done he wrote that it wasn't obvious where the drains were and that the buyers needed to find this out before they committed themselves, thankfully the buyers have a brain and just said well surely they will be on the building regs..............Honestly talk about a jobs worth...... Have you seen the cost of her courses? We've just stuck to the basic - and cheap - rule of keeping things tidy. Anyway, I'm returning to this thread to tell you that we are due to complete on the cottage next Monday - the 23rd. We're currently in the middle of packing. What fun. And today I've spoken to BT and got our new phone number (the boy at the BT call centre, when he said, "Yeeess.", sounded like the weird Scottish hotelier fom Little Britain ). And today we accepted the latest offer for our old wreck of a house (the 3rd time we've "sold" it), at a price which is far less than the house is worth, but I won't believe we've actually sold it until we've handed over the keys. I should be more excited but this has dragged on for so long I think I'll reserve half the excitement for when we actually walk through that door and open the champagne, and the other half for when we are finally rid of the old house. Richard T Posted October 20, 2006 Author Share Posted October 20, 2006 Only three days to go! The champagne is in the fridge. We've been to Argos and bought a load of boxes. Our solicitor has got all of our money. The removal van is arranged for Monday morning and I've hired a van too (of course it's necessary! ) . I've got next week off work (and I manage to miss a monthly team meeting too!!) and HennyPenny's got half-term. So by this time on Monday we should be guzzling champagne and unloading the chickens into their new garden!! Phil - the fridge is too big for the new house so we'll be leaving it for our (eventual) buyers, but fear not, we'll transport the champagne in a cool-box with ice.
