my speckledey has laid an egg..my nest box disappointment has gone now as came back after being out all day and there it was in the nest box,,,her sister Stina laid a few days ago so mine followed suit...

It is quite small but am really pleased...now dilema what to do with it

Poached. Before we had our hens I wasn't bothered about poached eggs with their watery whites. HOWEVER: with our girls' eggs I just put the fresh egg in gently boiling water and 3 minutes later have the most delicately flavoured beautiful egg

I'd fry it - more certain of a perfect outcome when I can see exactly what's going on, there's always an element of risk in boiled or poached!!

Well I turned mine into Yorkshire Pudding, and it was fabulous! (although only a small yorkshire each for OH and me!)

We weighed it and it is approx 20grams so a tiny weeny one but perfectly formed!

My son and I decided I should have it for breakfast in the morning(something i dont always do but should)..so will let u know how it was and hopefully we may get another one soon...

 

What a nice reward from the chicken...they are great pets!

Thank you AND it was a double yoker!! i have taken a pic of it so will post that it was weeeny two little yolks and tasted delicious fried up..I was shocked to see the 2 yolks in such a small egg!

Yes i thought no one will believe me a double yoker in a small egg...i broke it into a glass as the membrane inside was quite tough and i thought oh NO its going to be something not right with it BUT when i opened it & two tiny double yolks it was delicious...

Oh wow!! That is fabulous and a double yolker too!! Congratulations to Stina's sister (does she have a name yet?) Stina has now laid 6 eggs and todays was much bigger, they've also got darker and more speckled and are so pretty, just like a freckled egg!!

My coral nick laid her first today and it was so pretty!

Omletina, can i ask how old your Coral Nick is? Flo, my Coral Nick is 20wks approx tomorrow but no eggs yet - I can't wait for one of hers, both and have been laying for a couple of weeks now and their eggs are so different, I am intrigued to see what Flo's will be like!

 

I got her on April 1st and she would have been 16-18 weeks then, so she's now 20-22 weeks. The waiting is the worst thing isn't it?!! I'm just as desperate for the "first egg" as I was when I got my original Omletinas!!

How funny...I got Flo on the 1st April too and she was about 16 weeks then! Hopefully that means we may have a first egg moment any day now, although she isn't crouching yet but she is becoming much more friendly and brave every day.

Promise to post some pics..after tiny double yolker we got no more eggs until yesterday one more tiny speckled egg(v small) havent opened it yet! and a great big one but have no idea who laid it as i was at work
