storminstaffs
What colour do they start out as - as we have 2 pullets there combs are reddening, and well be normally get a egg a day from the other big layers 6 in total and well we've been getting a extra cream coloured egg, and im sure legbars are supposed to lay blue/olive eggs
feemcg
Depends, there are three varieties of Legbar - gold, silver and cream. The Gold and Silver are barred Leghorns which lay white or cream eggs, whereas the Cream is crested and lays blue.
kitchens
My crested cream legbar lays eggs but they are fading a bit (they do as the laying season goes on apparently). She doesn't lay every day and it doesn't take much of a drama to put her off for a few days. She does stop over winter too. Gorge though
storminstaffs
they are the crested cream legbars - but laying cream/brown eggs
Redwing
Strange Did you get them from a breeder? there have been a few dodgy looking 'cream legbar' examples pictured with some ebay hatching eggs

Egluntyne
Sounds like a hybrid which has been passed off as a purebreed. They look very similar, and have the 75-80% chance of laying the coloured eggs.
storminstaffs
Thanks for the information my dad will be complaining to the breeder now
LJ's Chooks
pure cream legbars would definitely lay a very pale blue egg... sometimes they look white until you put something white next to them and then they are def blue... and they get paler through the laying season, ours are def blue at the moment, but will pale off. if they are a columbine (hybrid) they may still be crested but can lay a blue, green or brown egg.... what colour are their ears.... only blue tinted ones will lay blue eggs. Brown/red ears will lay brown eggs im afraid.
beach chick
ooh I'm interested in this. we've got a legbar, and were told she would lay green eggs. from what's written here, I think we may have been misled... she hasnt started laying yet so I will wait and see! Ain't Nobody Here
I have a Columbine (Cream Legbar hybrid) and she lays green eggs (or did, until recently ). I understood there to be an 80% chance of blue/green eggs. Her ear lobes have a definite green tinge (tricky to see in a photo though ). http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2048/2171960885_ca2a326864.jpg
beach chick
she's beautiful - doesnt look the slightest like my Siouxsie Sioux tho!!! (lost the camera lead, otherwise would be trying to upload pics)
sjp
There both crested and im sure the gold's aren't thats correct the cream is the only one with a creast I've got one of each theres very little differance between the gold and cream colour wise the gold is also slightly smaller and mines as loopy as they come
ubereglu
I have a cream legbar and she lays pale blue eggs...in the wrong place and she also has earlobes like that too-slightly tinged with green and blue and then red at the edges. Molly the cream legbar is the one in my avatar...laying in the wrong place, as per usual.
