Budgies Posted May 8, 2009 Share Posted May 8, 2009 I bought the first style for my girls in yellow plastic with orange carrots on it! They were TERRIFIED of it, and never adjusted to it at all!! They also disliked the red broom, the orange bucket, the orange lawnmower, the green plastic watering can, and so the list goes on! Peachy77 Posted May 10, 2009 Share Posted May 10, 2009 I got the 1st one. Its quite good as you can adjust the size of the hole that the treats come out of depending on what you are putting in there. Think the 2nd one will be too big for corn, loads would come out at once i think. Must admit though that i am terrible for rembering to fill it up! Got mine in a local pet some for a couple of pound. wiblick Posted May 29, 2009 Author Share Posted May 29, 2009 An update. They love it! They watch for it as I carry it into the run. I only give it to them on odd days. They are a fairly fearless bunch. Whatever the drawbacks are of having the babies (12 weeks) in with the older ones (18 weeks and 10 months) it does mean that the older ones show the way to the younger ones. My older ones grew up in a farm yard and are used to a lot of noise and chaos and new things. Now to work on the 'salad bowl' so as greens don't immediately get squashed into the dirt! Having ditched mine I'm going to have to buy a new one now because the new girls might like it!! You can buy hanging "cages" like bird feeders that have fairly wide mesh exteriors. I used to hang greens and spinach leaves etc in that so they could peck at them and pull them through the wire if they wanted to. If you hang it a bit high they do a graceful little jump!! I might try a peanut feeder. Or something in-between if I can find it. Broccoli was a huge hit, they took a few desultory pecks at apples. Raisins were the first non-layers pellets treat my girls ever got and boy did they like them! Never tried crickets, but mealworms were popular!
