1 week Pekin pics - all together now aaaaahhhhh!

Recommended Posts

Not great photo's but they're just over a week old. Most are my own Pekins (Gold Laced) from our trio, there is one possibly black Pekin from someone else and 2 Ixworths.

Here you go...

These are two of my pekins...

2 of my GP Pekins, 2 Ixworth (light ones on right), Black Pekin and the light one on the left is a mystery - it came from one of my own eggs but is a different colour to its 4 brothers/sisters!

The two on the right are the identical(?!) siblings...

Aren't they great.

I have put some other pics on Flickr of my big lassies.

Hi,

I'm hoping to get some eggs to put under my very broody pekin, any advice for a first timer?! I was going to put her in a rabbit hutch to sit would that b suitable?

I have a broody in a rabbit hutch and she's happy as anything. I use a large cat litter tray, put a sod of grass in it and cover with a bit of straw and leave that in the dark end, I put food and water in the other side and make sure she gets off and visits daily.

One of the Ixworths died yesterday, it had been quite thin compared to the others and listless with a dirty (crusty poo) bottom. We seperated it and kept it warm whilst trying to encourage it to eat but it passed away yesterday :(

I suppose the thing about hatching is we have had 17 chicks so far so it is inevitable that some won't make it.
