Hemcore, Aubiose or Rubber Chippings Stockists in Hampshire

Recommended Posts

Hi There

Still deciding on ground cover for my WIR - but been searching around for hemcore, aubiose and rubber chippings (plum coloured) and not getting very far. Anyone know of any stockists in the Hampshire area (I'm in Basingstoke). Thanks

Ive just laid purpe rubber chippings, bought them from Downtown at Grantham (obviously too far away) but if you go on Dunweedin.co.uk and click nationwide stockists it brings up a map (B & Q in corner - but not all B & Q) . This is where I found Downtown and phoned to check stock and what colour. They are fantastic I did have woodchip which was good but this is brill and they dont kick it all over :D:D

Thanks everyone.

I did look at the Dunweedin website this morning having seen they also sell on eBay - looks like the B&Q Warehouse in Farnborough which isn't too far away from me may be one to try.

Thanks regarding the Chicken Keeper at Hook House - I'm on one of Alison's courses this Sunday so will ask about hers, although I know she only does the black.

Looks like it will be rubber chippings then!

B&Q Farnborough has it in stock but do I need the Dunweedin Landscape Rubber Chippings or Playground Rubber Chippings - it's £1 per bag difference but you seem to need twice the amount for coverage if using the Playground?

Any ideas?

Im looking into getting this after reading about it here! I was a bit worried about my grass disappearing and this seems to be a good answer!

What is the best thing to lay on the grass first then put this on top of?? or is it best just put straight onto the patio area? they will be free ranging when we are there but while we are at work i would feel safer knowing they are in the run! They arrive on Sat and will be weeks old! so exciting!!

Ah brill, thanks, think ill see how they go on the grass but at least i know i have an option if it does start to disappear! i seem to see people with chickens who have bowling greens for gardens and others where the grass has completly disappeared!! Im getting Silkies and one Sussex and have been told they dont scratch around but how true this is im not sure!! :)

For aubiose just go a bit further up the A30 towards Hartley Wintney - a short way past Alison's. Just outside Hook there is a small dual carriageway and Shapleys Ranch is just on the right side of the road (Murrell Green) - you will need to go past it for the break to cross over, but not too far. It is next to the new office/warehouse (very small) development half way up the hill. I get mine from there, last time we got it the cost was £7.90 per bale.

Just meant to add that the little trading estate is called either Winkfield or Winkworth Business Park and it is signposted quite well in advance for the turn off - bit further on than Murrell Green where there is a bigger trading estate. Shapleys is just before the entrance and has a small green sign outside - more noticeable than the name of their place!

Just to confuse things the Dunweedin purple rubber chippings I put down were the playground ones :) The pieces are quite big (ive put pictures in the Eglu, Cubes and run section listed under something like "purple rubber chippings - pictures) the girls don't throw them around cos their heavier than the woodchip I first had. To fill the run and the edge around, it took 6 bags at £8.80 each but their guaranteed to last 50 years or something like that so thats good.

Just to warn you that it is the Hook Fun Run on Sunday so leave a bit of extra time to get to Alison's.

Goody - another Basingstoke Omleteer! Once the good weather makes a return, must get another get together sorted :D
