abwsco
If DH's firm, where he has worked for over 25 years, have always paid them when they've gone for dentist or doctors appointments can they suddenly stop doing so? Thanks
Egluntyne
What does it say in his contract?
Redwing
Its discressionary where I work and they can withdraw it unless it actually says in your contract that you will be paid so it might be a good time to see what the contract says. For my team I always ask that they make the appointment first or last thing and they don't have to make up the time, if its a specialists appt I let them go at other times, no time off for opticians and if I think they are taking the mick I will ask to see an appointment card Perhaps a few rogues in your OH's company have pushed it too far and now everyone is getting penalised
Guest
they're not legally obliged to unless it specifically states so in their contract of employment I'm afraid. It's all here http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/e_time_off_work.pdf
abwsco
Thanks everyone, I think it might have always been discressionary. The firm wanted new contracts signing pretty quickly months ago, but when it was pointed out that they'd missed the pension off the new contract, they've never reappeared. They've also recently stopped all overtime as well. Will get his contract out and double check. As far as I know they've not been taken advantage of, but a sales manager, not on the shop floor seems to think that all the shop floor are screwing the firm and the boss is listening to him. Doesn't make for a good working environment at all Sorry, that turned into a moan!
