tara
I have 2 five week old indian runner duckling that are growing feathers.I really would love to put them out in the eglu at night as there making loads of mess in the house splashing there water plus they really love the eglu run during the day.Now with plenty of straw would they be to cold. Lesley
It depends how well feathered they are - and what the weather is like where you are at the moment........ They need to have lost all their duckling fluff and be well feathered. If you have the same vile weather we have then I would hold off until it looks like we're going to get a few days of decent overnight weather. tara
We had them on our dinning room table as l was worried my 2 year old would get to them. They had started to make alot of mess but were of heat. But what ive now done is put them in my lean too but put the heat on again as its not as warm as indoors.Ive given them some straw as well so they can cuddle up all snug tonight. As for the day they have been going into the eglu and run but ill continue to put them into the lean too.at night until there fully feathered I was looking at ways of putting heat into the eglu at night but not getting no were on that one. They are feathered on there wings and on the chests but l was not happy with the idea of leaving them out due to there lack of feathers but leaving them in the lean too means we can have our table back
Lesley
Sounds like a good compromise Tara - they'll soon be ready to stay out in the Eglu and run.
