Hello everyone, I have just ordered my Eglu and am VERY excited!!!!

 

My desire to own an Eglu began over 3 years ago when I saw an advert for one in the back of a glossy magazine which I was reading whilst waiting for my husband to have his eyes lased. At the time we had a new baby and were planning to move house so I was told in no uncirten terms that I wasn't having one. Any how, two house moves and another new baby later and my DH has said that I can finaly get an Eglu for my birthday. Yay!!!!

 

Very much looking foward to getting to know every better. Please expect lots questions from my as I am a first timer and a bit nervous.

Hi, thanks for the replys! the eglu arrives on the 10th of june, are they usually on time?? The anticipation is killing me already. Not 100% decided on which chicks yet, will get in touch with our local breeder a bit nearer the time and ask advice. Sure we wont regret our decision x

i'm hoping they're on time cos my is sposed to come on the 28th May and i'm picking my chickens up on the 29th i've been having nightmares that it doesn't come and the chooks are sleeping in my bed

I found that Omlet were excellent they gave me a time slot of between 11.30 and 2.30 and were there at 11.30. How many girls are you having

 

Bet you can't wait, I'm quite new to this chicken keeping only had my girls about 5 weeks but everybody is so friendly and helpful on here, theres always somebody to help

Oh more replies, your all so friendly!!!! I cant decide between 2 or 3 chickens, in fact I was going to post a message to get some advice later. Practicaly I want 2, but my heart says 3!! (I am getting carried away already aren't I?)

I just ordered mine last night, so am in a similar position to you. I've ordered my hens from Omlet, though, and opted for three as I'd read somewhere that they are happier in groups of three. I didn't take much persuading, mind

He he, I live outside the chicken delivery area so am sourcing mine form else where. I have been on the web site of the local omlet recomended breeder and they all look so beautiful! How will I choose???????

i was originally getting 2 but i've read that it's best to get 3 just in case one dies, then you don't have a lone chicken. i'm now getting 4

I got my Eglu a couple of weeks ago and Bob, Hermione and Bernice were picked up on Saturday. Mine were from Storrs Poultry.

I love all the chickens names, we will have a primrose and a violet, and possibly a poppy if we get a third. My husband is being a bit dificult at the moment and says that 2 chickens enough, gruuuu. I will work on him between now and the 10th!

I got my girls from the Storrs poultry farm. So it begs the question...are you sure you got the girls you pointed to?

 

When I went with my OH there was a fair amount of subtifuge going on amongst the hens!
