4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Hi,

 

I'm planning on hatching some eggs maybe next year?

 

So far i have

 

1 Incubator (should arrive in the next few days)

1 Brooder

1 Lamp

Tons of Bulbs

Non slip chick flooring, bought from ebay

Feeder

Drinker

 

and what we are going to buy in the next few months are:

 

Coop

Chick Crumbs (getting after we move)

Chick Grit (Getting After we Move)

 

 

Do i have everything or do i need to add some more stuff to my, to buy list?

P.S. I'm hoping to get some Cream Crested Legbar, Gold Laced Bantam Wyandottes (sis wants a couple of them) & Araucana eggs, Would you recommend this breed for a first time hatcher?

I can't think of anything. Maybe a thermometer for the brooder?

 

Cream Legbars are good for 1st time as they are auto sexing AND

Not sure about the others, breeds are much of a muchness when it comes to incubating them.

A thermometer for the incubator (If you buy one 2nd hand you don't always get one and a hygrometer for measuring the humidity.

 

Also a good book to read up on the subject. I recommend **this one**

I have a 2 way thermometer (used it for my tortoises, has since been cleaned)

 

and i also have one of those humidity thingies too.

How can you have 1.0.1 Tortoises? I assume it must be male and female or something like that, I just can't work it out, unless you're talking in Binary, and that would be a lot of animals

Ishi Is a Male Hermanns (about 4 years old) & Squirt is a 3 yr old Leopard Tortoise, We think he might be male but not 100% sure

 

We did have 2 Horsfields too, Homer & Tony. We gave Tony to the Welsh Mountain Zoo and gave Homer to a woman my mum knows (her tortoise died a year ago)

On the tortoise theme I have a spur thighed female who must be knocking on 60 years old now

 

We tried to breed from her once ( she went to stay with a boyfriend ) but nothing happened.

I'd love to breed from Hughie, he's just around the right age (he's 6) but wouldn't have a clue about where to look for a female. I've found a place which breeds tortoises and I might see if I can do some voluntary work experience there
