Save the garden.....Chicken netting tip

Recommended Posts

If you need movable netting...but won't pay the Omlet £68.06 price inc postage, you might be interested in what I've found.....I've been thankful for everyone elses tips, so thought I should follow suit (my Eglu sports corrugated PVC top and am v happy with it!)

Knowles netting = 38mm sq mesh 1.2 high x 25m = £15

Wickes safety fencing stake 13 x £2.19 = £43

Saving £25...I do like a bargain.... :)

Of course, you can get fewer stakes and netting to suit your garden and save even more :D

Apologies to Omlet....

Hope you don't mind if I add another little tip here as it seems an appropriate thread?

If you need extra poles/stakes for your Omlet or other netting, Morrisons do a garden lantern hook thingy for £1 that you poke in the ground to dangle your lantern off, but which handily is just the right height for the netting, with the netting sitting nicely in the hook part.

Aaaand they're a bit too long for your trolly and protrude from the front so you get to "accidentally" poke ditherers up the bum!

I've just bought the knowles netting, but can't work out how to attach it to poles

I bought bamboo poles, taped the netting on (just one) & when I stood it up, the take broke.

Wickes didn't have any of the stakes mentioned here, so will try morrisons - will the netting be easy to attach, or am I going to have to shell out for the real thing ?

I have omlet netting and poles but bought a few of the morrisons lantern holders as extra. You just thread it down through a couple of squares and push in the ground, loop it over the hook at the top and then use a tent peg at the bottom if necessary.

I used some bamboo poles as extras before. I put a paper clip on the top wire and then stuck a prong of it in the top of the bamboo pole to hold it up. I threaded it on the wire first and used a tent peg at the bottom as well. :D
