Last week our tumble drier gave up (fortunately the sunny weather has helped with this issue!) and this morning the dishwasher died!

The tumble drier definitely is - the dishwasher has been on its last legs for a while and we have replaced a few parts in it already, so as we use it so much, the time has come to replace it. Can manage without the tumble drier for the moment, so not an immediate replacement for that required.

My parents have to use dishwashers a lot. Dad is a wine merchant who does lots of outside bars etc etc. They have two dishwashers, one normal size and one slimline. They are both Bekos and are both used at least twice a day and when they are busy can be used upto 20 times a day!! They have had more expensive machines and say the Bekos are just as good.

I know what you mean as I bought two larder freezer/fridges with some obscure name really cheap about 10 years ago from Iceland as thats all we could affort at the time and touch wood they are still going strong.

 

My hotpoint dishwasher was mechanically great but the door hinge recently broke...so I just paid £419 via co op on line for a miele dishwasher and by applying before (i think 5 th june) I got 5 years parts and labour warranty for free)!

 

I have a miele vacum and best i have had...normally miele is ££ and I wouldnt pay ridiculous prices but the co op on line has good deals on and I ordered it one day and it came the next

 

just an idea but it is annoying that all the recycling they have us doing at least they could get manufacturers to build things to at least last.

Funnily enough the one I was going to order is a Beko - it had the best reviews - apparently not much to look at and a little noisey but ours would be in the utility.

 

.......however, I have washed up this morning, dried and put away and it wasn't too bad, so I have told OH I am going to put off ordering a new one and see how we get on without one.....needless to say he thinks I'm barmy!!

 

Wonder how long I'll last?

Mum and Dads are both in the kitchen and i don't find them that noisey. Mum says she would rather be without her washing machine than her dishwasher even if she didn't have to wash tons of glasses

I've bought our last few appliances as graded appliances. I couldn't actually find the scratches or chips on them, so I've no idea why they were returned, but they were significantly cheaper than their non-graded counterparts and they've been brilliant - thus far we have a five year old washing machine, a two year old fridge freezer and a one year old tumble dryer, all working brilliantly and all graded applicances.

It is a sad fact of life that when one appliance goes, at least one other will. Like a Murphy's Law sort of thing - I have noticed that on more than one occasion!

OH motorbike went caput on Friday - just over one year old

 

OH petrol lawnmower went caput on Saturday - just under one year old, but "ware and tare"

 

(anyone noticed the common denominator here?)

 

Monday morning - pussy cat not well (okay she's not a machine, but hopefully my "third thing")

 

 

Pretty sure the naff candy washing machine that was left in the house when we bought it is about to bite the dust too!

 

On a brighter note - 4 eggs yesterday and it was by birthday!

....the dishwasher - ITS ALIVE!

 

OH googled dishwasher problems (he isn't a diy bod) and tried something when he came home and suprisingly it worked!

 

So at the moment just the tumble drier to replace and with this weather I'm not in a rush yet.

I hope that happens with all ours - the tumbler doesn't condense properly, the boiler cuts out once in a while, the washing machine had sparks inside the door not long back, and the fridge has warm spots in it!! Husband is doing a great job of making them limp on for now but it can't go on forever!!

I have spells of appliance breakdown - my liquidiser ( something my mum got me yrs ago and shes been dead 14yrs so you can see how old it was) gave up ghost when YS had smoothie phase recently. Got to get another. my OH used my Braun blitzer hand thingy and I found it in sink plug and all to say the air was blue would be an understatement. he got me another, again it was something mum got me when I got my first home. memories eh?
