Silkie eggs have pipped! (pic added)

Recommended Posts

Yay - my 2 remaining silkie eggs ( rest infertile) have pipped - they are wiggling away working hard to hatch. Fingers crossed they do it good. I won't sleep properly tonight - will keep checking the incubator. Good job it's in our bedroom. The only room we can shade the incubator from the sun. Oh I really hope they hatch ok, I've been wanting silkies for ages - & I want a cockerel. Come on little chickies - you can do it!

We have a chick hatched about 10 minutes ago! It's still all wet & fluffing up in the incubator. It seems to be a golden colour. :D It has these long legs, in comparison to its body they look funny! It's cheeping away in the incubator - very cute. The other egg is now well cracked & I don't think it will be too long until that one also hatches. :D

Pictures are on my hubbys camera & I can't find the lead to download them on the computer. I will do them when he comes in & get him to take some more. Oh I am so chuffed. They are so fluffy & look like Emu. They have such big feet for tiny chicks, but perfect in every way. I'm trying to teach them how to peck & where there water is - dipped beaks - dipped my finger & wet there beaks also. The golden one (Scooter) is up on its feet wandering already - the other (Basehunter) is still a bit wobbly on its feet - it will catch up in a few hours no doubt.

Oh they are so sweet.

So we now have 5 chicks.

3 from my big girls with my broody Marlene - gold laced Wyandotte

2 silkies in the brooder.

Names..

With Marlene

Mini me - dark striped

Dizzy - Yellowy

Rascal - light yellow fluffy feet

Silkies

Scooter - golden coloured

Basehunter - White

Yes I'm fine thanks - just upsetting as he knew me & my sister from birth & we always called him Uncle.

Hubby has taken lots of photos - but we've just not had chance to put them on the computer.

Chicks are doing well & soooooo cute.

Is the golden one I've got a partridge colour? :? The white one is very very affectionate bless it. It has a bit more of a hairdo than the other one too.

In an ideal world I'm hoping for a male & a female.

I got my eggs from ebay - & these were the outcome! I am very pleased as they are lovely little things that hatched all by themselves - thank god!

The lady I bought the eggs from had 2 white & one black female silkie running with a golden red silkie cockerel.
