Cinnamon
I bought Devon a gorgeous organza wrap from Debenhams to wear with her prom dress, which was posted to me in a tiny little square & subsequently has line creases which are really noticeable Its non iron, non wanh, dry clean only, & while I could get it dry cleaned, its already cost me enough, plus the postage. Anyone got any bright ideas how I can get the creases out without ruining it? I have it flapping on the line today,in case that helps a bit
morris
could you hang it in the bathroom and make it all steamy ? , not quite the weather for that tho !
fluffyknickers
Using steam? Either use the steam function on an iron and dont touch it with the iron but hold it up and let the steam do its stuff OR hang in the bathroom while you have a hot shower OR in this nice sunny weather try laying out somewhere in the sun Sorry if thats no help at all x
poachedegg
Hang it up and blow a hairdryer (on cool setting) at it. I was given this tip with my wedding veil a long time ago! Hope it works.
The Dogmother
Try a friendly dryc leaner and see if they will waft their steam ironer over it quickly for nowt.
Guest
could you put a pillow case over the top and then steam iron it on the lowest setting? The pillow case should hopefully protect it as there's no direct contact with the organza?
Aunty e
last time I had this problem, with a chiffon frock that was designed to be cleaned by moon fairies apparently, I steamed it at a distance with my iron, by putting it on the hottest setting and pushing the steam button. Now, if I had this problem again, I'd whip out my steam cleaner and use that. But it really does work, and won't do it any harm unless you get too close. Try about six inches away. katieadams
I used to work in a dry cleaners years ago and we'd have just put a very slightly damp teatowel over it and ironed it (cool iron still)!

Cinnamon
Well, Debenhams are refunding me £10 to get it dry cleaned They don't have any more in stock, so can't send another one. I may well try a couple of these tricks first though,to see if I can save a penny or two,& a trip to the dry cleaners Poet, that's really helpful thanks Honestly, this Prom is a nightmare. We got the dress, but then there's shoes,wraps,jewellery,bag........haven't even thought about the hair yet And this is the easy daughter.Cleo ,who is a high maintenance sort of girl, will be a right headache in 2 years time
The Dogmother
Well done for 'complaining and gaining' Sarah I do hope that Rosie isn't going to be a high maintenance girl
Cinnamon
Hope & Pray Clare Cleos latest thing is that she wants her lovely shiney straight bobbed hair cut into something called a ducks butt, so its all fluffy at the back like a ducks (or hens) bum Honestly,I wouldn't wish some teenage daughters on anyone
The Dogmother
Luckily she's not .... at the moment They have a leaving party though and we've been to buy a dress for that... apparently, some of them are wearing bustiers and strapless numbers (this is a daytime tea party for 11 year olds!). Rosie has chosen a flattering and modest summer dress. I just hope that she isn't the sort of teenager that I was

Chickvic
I certainly don't want Erin (DD who's 11) turning into the teenager I was - alas I think it's too late
JM
I'm constantly amazed at this forum - you can get answers for everything from washing a chicken's knickers, to ironing an organza wrap!! Wonderful! Maybe all Omleteers should stand for parliament - we'd soon get the place in shape!!
Cinnamon
Amen to that
Aunty e
Hmmm. I was a goth. A very pretty, polite and hardworking goth though, so it could all be ok. As long as she doesn't become the sort of teenager my OH was

bellekatz
We are also doing the prom thing this month. Managed to get a dress in the sale from Coast but paid a fortune for matching shoes. Bag and Wrap came from Ebay and the bling jewellery was a steal at £10 for choker and two pairs of earrings all the way from Hong Kong. She hasnt mentioned Hair yet but has already said she doesnt want a limo. ( good girl) Hopefully it wil be cheaper with her brother in 2 years time
The Dogmother
Limo! Rosie would have to make do with my van I'm afraid. I might just clean it!
Cinnamon
Luckily Brian has a friend who has about 6 Cadillacs, all soft tops & gorgeous, & said friend wants an outboard motor that we happen to have,so we did a bit of a barter Not sure how Luke, Devons boyfriend,is going to feel if the chap turns up with the pink one though! The turning up parade is pretty mush the main event & we go & have a look almost every year.We have seen milk floats, skateboards, space hoppers, tractors & double decker buses! We wanted to hire Devon & Luke a couple of Segways, but couldn't find them anywhere. They both have a slightly geeky image,so those would have been perfect
The Dogmother
Brilliant! I have a friend with a cart drawn by 2 shire horses - Rosie can make do with that when her time comes.
craftyhunnypie
Lakeland do a spray which you spray on clothes & creases just drop out - not need for ironing or anything - perfect for travel! I hope your daughter has a lovely time Cinnamon. Let her have that ducks butt cut - she is one up to the minute girl! She will look back on her hairdo's & fashions in photos a few years down the line. At least she is not going for an 80's perm. 80's hairdo's are really in this year! poachedegg
ES had his prom 2 years ago - hired a tux (which inc the shoes ) and between a gang of friends hired a stretched Hummer to take them in - sounds like boys are much easier than girls at proms. DD is 7 and has to have all the glitz and jewellery and bags and shoes now, heaven help us at 16!
