Thank you for all your kind words and advice. It has been so lovely to share with someone, well many of you. there's always someone on here who understands. :D

I had another sleepless night on Saturday. I spent Sunday morning writing lists of jobs to be done. I prioritised them and allocated some out.

Everyone got to where they needed to be at the right time and there was the bonus of YS and ED going off to friends for the best part of the day.

I continued writing reports and broke the boredom with hanging washing, food and entertaining YD. All children stripped their own beds and put on clean sheets!! This will definitely become a regular weekend task. Dinner was a throw in the oven and cook job which DH took over the minute he walked through the door!! He then cleared up and put the kids to bed.

I must put the record straight on DH as he does do such a lot, during the week when I'm at work. He generally does all the laundry, all meals, food shopping plus the bathrooms. My job is to keep the kids and their paperwork, school stuff and activities in place . . it's a big job . . but not as big as the laundry!! He does get a lot more child free time than I do which is when he's out cycling or sailing, a luxury I do not have the time for.

Anyway I'm feeling better. The hens are still not clean, the carpets are yuk, thankyou's still to do and school papers are still there but reports are being written and life is moving on. :D Thank you!!! Oh and I slept well last night!!!! Must get back to work, need to collect the register . . really shouldn't be on here at this time!!!!

Glad that you all survived the weekend, only a few more until the summer.

Any chance of negotiating some child free time during the holidays, even a few hours can help you remember that you are a person too. Your family sound ok but they do need to realise that underneath all that mum stuff you have needs and interests too and overall they will respect you more for trying to be yourself more as they get older.

I cut my laundy by 50% when I decided to make my children do their own - by this they have to put their own laundy in the machine - I hang is out as I have the ability to hang it so that it usually doesn't need ironing and then they put it away. My children are now 15. 13 and 11 (have been doing it for 1 year). As the children really don't like doing their own laundy they dont get through half as many clothes. You know the senario where they fancy a change of clothes half way through the day or when they take something and as they cant be bothered to put it back in the drawer they put it in the dirty clothes basket  Some people think I am mad but it really worked and it is not as if they have to stand over a mangle doing their laundry

Glad to hear you sounding more positive

Had to laugh at Chucky Mama - my YS could put washing macine on but i dread to think what colour they would come out :anxious: I too have major wobblies and am mega stressing due to impending op next week, school fete this Sat and 100 and one other things. I know I shouldnt shout at kids but sometimes.... lots of hugs after and a few tears shed by me for being a cow (do you have a cow smilie mods?) I am trying to get ahead and did loads on Sat due to bad weather - but work tends to put a spanner in the works by exhausting me. Anyway - tonight kids will get snack dinner boiled eggs or summat - quiche in oven for OH and moi (real kids dont eat quiche!!) and then its chill and bed. i have to say this forum is such a Godsend when you are feeling low as others are understanding and unjudgemental and I have to lauugh sometimes as your stories are so funny. Ajuff if you were nearer we could have a coffee/wine and moan but wish you all the best, I have seen my mate in similar state. :)

I like the laundry tip, my lot have a habit of putting nearly clean clothes in the wash rather than folding them on a chair for next time. I have even known my youngest to put clothes that I have left on her floor to put away straight back in the laundry basket folded and ironed

My boys do that sometimes  I just take them out of the laundry bin and put them back in their rooms - too bad if they're creased.

Might try getting the oldest to start doing his own laundry. 85% of the washing is his as he changes from his uniform when he comes in from work, then changes into sweat pants etc. Then he'll have a shower and change again and go out! I think he thinks I have nothing better to do.....

I'm glad things are looking better today :) . A trouble shared is a trouble halved so keep sharing  .

I often put "dirty" clothes back too  .

Another tip with socks (does any child ever turn their socks the right way out  ?) is to leave them inside out - that way next wash day they'll magically be the right way round  .

Yes, I used to have that too, not any more though
