Oooh - I don't get texts. I will look into that. I haven't told Ocado as my mum very kindly said that she was quite happy with the meal that they gave instead. I will do though. The Dogmother
I can't remember whether you have to sign up for the texts seperately, but I get one the day before the delivery, reminding me of the deadline to change the order and one on the day reminding me of the delivery. Great service

Cinnamon
That Geetas Mango Chutney is the BEST, isn't it?
Guest
That Geetas Mango Chutney is the BEST, isn't it? Yes a friend introduced me to Geetas mango chutney and it is definitely the best..lovely lumps of garlic in it! Just couldnt take the substitution (I remember Tesco a couple of years ago stopped stocking it and introduced their own range) I asked Tesco to stock it they told me no one else wanted to buy it! So I use to get it at Sainsburys(buy 5/6 jars a time..married to an Indian you see..lots of curries) so now I saw it on Ocado so will try to order it again..... Funny Tesco now stock it! I probably have the highest sales for Geetas Chutney...yummy stuff indie
Guest
it's not for me but then I have the time to shop around. I like to go and see what special offers are on (they're not always on-line) and the 'whoops' bargains aren't on-line either. I can see it has its advantages time wise but it will cost you more financially.

I can see what you mean for items reduced as they are up to their sell by date but I've reduced our shopping bill by using Ocado
The Dogmother
I actually spend less using Ocado than when I went to the supermarket... because i'm not buying the discounted and end of date products! I used to be tempted to buy far more
abwsco
So that's two of us saving money then
chocchick
We've tried Ocado about twice now, wouldn't really try Tescos. I named it avocado as the vans are green and kept forgetting the real name at first. I was excited when I first saw a van as we couldn't get deliveries when I first saw it here. We go for the 10-11pm slot which is free. I think we do still spend a lot. Some of the offers are time limited, and I wouldn't always use them e.g. 15% if you spend £85+ I worked with the principle of trying to buy in things for the freezer and tins etc.that don't go off. The only thing I found was I couldn't buy 1-2 carrots if I needed that many, it tends to be packs of veg. We don't use enough to get a veg box. There's also the question of sizes e.g. I don't know what size I buy without checking and they look the same on the screen. I have a miniature coconut milk OH ordered, and my bread rolls were smaller than they looked so I needed to use more. Also I did a product request and just kept getting the same automated email back, even when I replied to it saying it was available from Waitrose which didn't answer if they were considering stocking it, and defeats the point if you are ordering online! Guest
I must say I think I am spending less but I do still buy some items from our farm shop as I hate the giant tesco up the road..I also ie went to get just milk from tesco and ended up £70 later with clothes and offers that I hadnt even gone in for. I dont like Ocado bread but I just get that from the bakers. However the quality of apples bananans that I decided to try this week are perfect! Delicious. I much prefer to pick my own fruit but it was pristine. Agree you do have to watch pack sizes.. I think Tesco is just too big and pile it high..they must have lots of waste, my friend worked on the fish counter and they use to throw it all away at the end of the session , the staff were not allowed to buy it even! I dont know if that has changed?/ She was appalled at the waste indie
jlo
I am not keen on the Ocado bread either. A bit too processed which is a shame. I am a bit cross with them at the moment. I emailed them about the issue I described earlier where the delivery man did not point out the substiution. I also asked about the text service. I have just had back an email which apologises for the fact that I didn't like the substitution and suggests that next time I give it back to the delivery man and I will be instantly refunded. The person did not mention anything about the text service! Completely missed the point that I couldn't really give it back to him when he was already in his little van a couple of miles away!! I have sent a reply back so we will see if they do any better this time!!
The Dogmother
I did an on the spot refund once - a bag of sugar was leaking - worked well and very quick.
Chucky Mama
Had my 1st Ocado delivery yesterday as a result of the forum It was fab - how sad have I become that I am excited about my shopping! They have only just started to deliver in my area. The website was so much easier that Waitrose and more offers. I love the recipe suggestion part of the website too. The delivery was prompt and everything was in order plus a couple of freebies and a bottle of wine on my next order which will please OH. All in all I am a happy bunny. Thanks Omleteers
