My neighbour on the allotment is italian and suggested I cook my courgette flowers as follows:

 

Stuff with mozarella cheese and a smidgen of anchovy

Deep fry

 

I haven't got any yet!

Anyone going to try it??

I keep thinking about it, but I'm not sure how - the flowers look tightly closed apart from a very short period. Are you supposed to prise them open?

 

I'd like to see someone doing it first!

I have been mulling it over too, but the flowers look so great on the plant that I can't bear to pick them

 

Milly, you are supposed to pick them closed I think, or they would be hard to stuff

Whenever I have seen them cooked on TV, they look small & shut anyhow

I have seen them coated in tempura batter and deep fried on Jamie and they looked great - not tried it as hubby would not eat it!

Did them last yr in sparkling water batter which is very light - yummy

I made them last year!

 

You need to shake the blossom to get rid of any critters, then stuff with a bit of mozzerella, fold the petals over the cheese and dip the whole thing into a very light batter and fry (I shallow fried) for a minute or two until golden. They were quite tasty!

I have only BBQ'd them but they were lovely.

We have eaten them when in Italy a couple of years ago - a good starter.
