this one is a frizzle named Fizz

from left to right; Longford, named after my kids school as they have adopted her in a watch me grow topic!, Fizz again and the little black one is stuck with the name Number Seven!

Only a guess but I think the first picture is a boy only because he has a lot of colours and patterns. I'm no expert.

 

Has number 7 as you call it got a blue shade on its beak ?

sorry for the late reply, my laptop died! just checked number seven and it just looks like its turning black. is a blue bit significant? really new to this so tips and knowledge always handy

I haven't seen a chicken with a blue beak till now. I was trying to find out what breed does, but I had no luck.

It's either a Frizzle or a Chaucer bantam? although i'm hoping its a Frizzle! no-one seems to know what a chaucer bantam is so were all waiting to see what they turn out like

they are my favorite too. I spotted the breed on this site when looking for ideas for an interesting chicken and fell in love with them. I was lucky enough to buy the only six live eggs from a local farmers auction and am really pleased that i have two that are definatley going to be frizzeled! not all frizzles have curled feathers and can be smooth. it's all down to genetics! I'm hoping to start breeding them but its early days as I've only had chickens for about six months and this is my first hatch. I am continually learning new things about chickens to bore my hubby with

They don't seem to lay many eggs though We had a trio at the farm who would very rarely lay an egg, and I only remember 1 hatching, I don't know what happened to it but there was something wrong with its neck and although we tried to look after it it had to be culled at just a few hours old.

its realy sweet. closest to mum all the time but loves a cuddle from my kids as well. I think its possibly another boy but hoping its a girl because I don't think I could part with it! in fact I don't think i can part with any of them and theres no way i could eat one
