susanb
We have had our chickens for almost 3 months. My Bluebelle lays an egg each day for about 14 days, takes a day off and then starts again. My daughter's Amber Star was later starting, and then laid an egg every other day for about 3 weeks. It is now 13 days since she last laid an egg. My son's Goldline ("Daisy") has recently started and is laying every day. All the eggs are very different, so I am sure that Amber has stopped laying. She seems to be perfectly well, not at all broody or any other problems. Is this simply an example of normal chicken behaviour (designed to worry us?) any thoughts welcome....and thanks! p.s. hello everyone - this is my first post! susanb
hmm....it just seemed to me that 13 days is a long time, and I am worried that there is something not right. When we got them, we were told that the Amber Star should be the most prolific egg layer of the three!
Hen Watch
Is she perhaps laying them under a bush or somewhere hidden in the garden? Or can you see any evidence that she may be laying the odd softie and eating them?
Aggienator
Wiser flk will be along soon, but have you tried worming them? I know that recomendations for how often to do this vary, but after 3 months, especially if they have been free ranging, they may need worming. Cheers Aggie
susanb
They have a fenced off area - and we have searched that....sono tlaying out and about. I have not seen any evidence of eating softies......is it possible that she could be laying softies whilst the two others are laying eggs with really hard shells?
