Biker Chick
I ordered a nice pink trug from ebay having seen a lovely one on this forum. Had to go and collect it from the post office this morning as I wasnt in when the postman tried to deliver it yesterday. I cleaned out the run and put some nice dry soil in the trug and sat down to watch them use it........ and guess what? They are totally ignoring it choosing instead to kick about the bark and scratch a hole in the soil to bathe in instead. Do you think I have wasted my money? Perhaps you can give me a few ideas on what I can now use my redundant pink trug for????
Alma
Hi, Mine did the same with my trug for a while, then all of a sudden they started to use it. So don't give up hope. Alma
The Dogmother
Pop some meal worms or other treats in it to encourage them in. They'll dustbathe once they realise what it is.
Falkor
I had a similar experience a couple of months ago......I purchased a large shallow purple trug for them back in March and they have only recently started getting in it, they seem to prefer it when the soil is right to the brim. I made sure some of their evening corn got thrown into it and this seems to have encouraged them in although when they first saw it in the run I think they thought it was going to kill them! They were petrified Edited June 19, 2009 by Guest

*mummy_hen*
I made a dustbath for my girls and left it in there for weeks but they wouldn't use it They would stand in it for about 20 seconds and then get out!! However i didn't try the treats trick so persevere and fingers crossed they will work out how much fun they will have in it!!
