I candled the eggs for the first time today!

 

3 of the eggs had no air Sacks? but there was bubbles moving about in the eggs!

 

The other 3 had air sacks & were all fertile

 

There's just 2 that are alive and the 3rd had died quite early.

 

The 2 remaining chicks/eggs look much healthier than the last lot (if you know what i mean)

I saw it, but now the light has gone off and everything looks blue

lol, it turns on & off to regulate the temperature!

 

I turned off the computer about 1 hr before i saw the pip

 

I'm tired but now i can't get to sleep lol

 

I thought the pencil marks had gone funny (the pip was in the middle of the circle lol)

I realised when it came back on after I posted - I thought it was one with a heating element rather than a bulb in it.

I managed to sleep lol,but i was that tired i left my TV & Compooper on

 

Does it normally take this long for a egg to hatch?

 

It piiped at about 9pm? and it's now 7:44am

It can take hours Raina, you'll just have to be patient ...........not easy I know.........we're all with you watching & waiting ............watching & waiting ..........watching & waiting ..........go pack a box & take your mind off it for a while

it's cheeping as i type this, i think my mum is more eggcited than me

 

 

I keep playing hen & chick noises to it (from youtube on my phone) and that makes it move and cheep

Nope it's still the same

 

the only thing that has changed is it's cheeping,it's gotten a bit louder

 

it's been the same for about 16 hours now

 

forgot to add,

 

is it normal for the shell to still be there once it has been pipped?

Hmmm I wonder if it's a bit stuck to the shell? It might be panicking a bit if its cheeping has got louder.

Is there anything i should do or should i just wait!!

I would wait until 24 hours have passed - keep the humidity up, so as the membrane of the egg doesn't dry out. Just keep a watchful eye on the chicky. Has it made any more progress at all? What about the other egg - has it pipped? Has it pipped on the underside maybe?

Hi Emma,

 

I'm not sure about the other egg it's not wobbled and i don't want to lift the lid to see if it's pipped under.

 

It's still the same but it seems to be wobbling alot more than this morning,maybe its turning?

 

Could it have pipped a bit early? or could it have spent all that time absorbing the yolk?

Yes it could have spent about 3 days absorbing the yolk! Don't worry - I would say for a serama it's about right day 19 - 20 to pip & even hatch. If it's wobbling about a lot more, it may soon make progress very rapidly - it's obviously trying to ooze itself out. Fingers crossed!

One of mine pipped then too ages to come out, was it days? I can't remember but it was AGES

I'm calling dunno what i'll call it if it does hatch,i'm calling it wobbler at the moment lol (that's all it really does)

 

It still cheeps at me when i talk to it,it seems to get really active when i whistle Bob Marley songs

 

Oh and i'm not sure but i think the pip crack might have gotten bigger?,but what i can see,it still isn't pipping the sides!

 

I think child birth would be quicker

Just keep the humidity up and it'll be fine. The crack probably has got bigger, if it has its a good sign.

 

They can take hours to hatch, so its all normal - just hope they're out for Saturday :wink
