Chicken Licken
Primrose is poorly - she has been of her food, and yesterday looked very sad for herself all fluffed up and tail down. She has just started to moult and has not laid for ten days. Anyway we went off to the vet for a check up who checked to see if she was egg bound and gave her an injection of Baytril. She also had what I think was painkiller injection. Please send your chickeny good wishes this way - I even shut the eglu door last night (it was in danger of becoming an ark and floating away anyway! This morning I am hoping she is a bit brighter - fingers crossed everywhere please Edited August 12, 2009 by Guest

Chicken Licken
She is not her normal self, but has shown some interest in some meal worms and a bit of food. I have left her perched on the bars in the run and hope she will venture out for a bit more of a peck around later - thank you all for your good wishes
Chicken Licken
I think she has worms I watched her do the most amazing curry poo and it was quite literally wriggling. I only wormed them a month ago . Anyway I have started them off on a week of Flubenvet. I hope she perks up a bit - poor old girl. Now I feel like a bad chook owner - I thought they were pest free
Plum
Yuk at least you know what is wrong. Don't feel bad you only wormed them a short while ago.
Chicken Licken
She has 3 more days of flubenvet left and seems much perkier. She is still moulting and has not laid anything yet. I am hoping that it is now the moult making her feel off colour rather than any other nasties as she seems to have her appetite back and has been bullying barrie again
Plum
Glad she has brightened up. Leave Barrie alone Primrose

Chicken Licken
Flubenvet intermediate - she sadly still has worms after 6 days of treatment!! Should I give her another 7 day course or is there an alternative?? Any ideas folks please

Better out than in In cases of high infestation it is advised to repeat the 7 day course in 3 weeks. Make sure that you have your dosing ratio correct and make sure that you use the recommended method rather than the grape method.
Plum
For gape worm you can give it at double dose so that may work. According to the manufacturer there are no side effects but if its an unusual worm perhaps the vet needs to send a specimen. I think it works best mixed with food so they have it constantly rather than putting on a grape. Egluntine will know.
