jennykelly
Hey sha not sure what im doing wrong got pics onto photobucket and copied and pasted img as instructed, any clues why they didnt come up?
Chook n Boo Mum
On PB, when you put your mouse over the IMG code it flashes up a yellow box which says copied I think, go back to your omlet message and press CRTL V together & the whole code appears in your message. When you press submit, it should be a photo rather than a code. Make sure the photo has been resized to "medium" so they aren't too big for the forum to deal with. Hope this makes sense! Good luck, Sha x
jennykelly
Hey Sha I did it! well what do you think?
Snowy
They are gorgeous! Possibly top = boy (plentiful face furniture for 11 weeks) Bottom = girl (although even that face furniture is a bit red, so could be two boys) Very chunky legs as well! tom123
Mmmm Difficult as I have 3 orp boys who are 5 weeks old and they look like this... (the black ones at the back) They have as much face furniture as yours do just not as red so you could be lucky and they might be girls but my money is on boys as I know orps are slow developers. Good Luck, They are lovely Tom
atsw
We got our two Buff Orps when they were six months old. By that stage they both had very well developed face furniture. Female Orps have chunky legs, so don't go on that alone. They are also very clumsy with their big feet, and will tread on anything and not realise. They also look quite ungainly when trying to perch or jump because their feet are so big! With all that said, when they are standing still or just doing what chickens do best, they can look fab. I think both could be girls, pretty sure the bottom one is. Andrew
Redwing
I reckon top is a boy and the bottom one is a girl but theres no real science behind that! Whatever they are they are lovely
Falkor
Ooooh little Orps....love them! Here is my "baby" Orp for comparison She is at least 19 weeks here and is a lump! : Excuse the dark shade of her feathers....she has been Anti-peck sprayed and it marks the feathers I would say your top pic is a boy if he is only 11 weeks but the second I am not sure...... Chook n Boo Mum
Great Jenny They are gorgeous & for what it's worth...and ain't worth a lot ....I'd say boy, girl, & only on the amount of face furniture the top one is sporting! Good luck with them, be warned they aren't the brightest creatures on God's earth.....my DH & I are convinced they share a braincell & have dropped it somewhere along the way ! Cooks
going from how my orp girlies looked when I picked them up at 12 weeks I would say boy top and girl bottom.
jennykelly
Today i let chicks out with my hens while i watched and bottom chick jumped on one hen grabbing her neck when she was dust bathing. I suppose that means boy doesnt it ?
Falkor
maybe not. My Splash Orp started "treading" her sister in the weeks just before she started laying eggs. I freaked, thought she was a bloke, posted on here, called the breeder asked everyone i knew to have a look and give me their opinion Then she laid a lovely Maybe she is hormonal?? Or maybe she is just trying to asert her dominance as top chook? Or maybe you have a boy was it the orp with the bigger comb?
jennykelly
really ? oh youve cheered me up. Both chicks are from the same hatch but so different. Top picture chick larger, more advanced feathering very sweet nature likes to lay down a lot. Bottom chick smaller more dominate. always on the go! This chick was treading on hen and pecking her neck. Really hoping one is a girl
