henpecked hubby :)

Helloooooo All,

Unfortunately due to my Father having another stroke, I had to book a flight to whizz up'td North to stay with my Mum - see my Dear old Dad - so we could visit the hospital together daily. Hence my disappearance & quietness.

They're both in their late 80's so its a dreadful time for all concerned but . . at least I am delighted upon my return to see I still have 7 very happy looking chooks, (who seem now to set their little routines around my hubbys :) who seem to follow hubby around & even stopped their foraging to go have their preening moments when he stopped work & went to his recliner to have a little snooze!!!!! )

He said they were mainly good as gold, except if he was talking on phone for longer then usual they would occasionally wander off down the lane  but mainly they stayed close by him and didnt cause him any grief :) YIPPEEEEEEE I can now honestly say hubby looks after the chooks as well as I do. Gone are the days of never wanting to leave my chooks with him incase he doesn't look after them properly , .as he has always joked he'd just let them get on with it, eave em to it & if he had time maybe let them out!!

He said they free ranged every day & he was with them outside all day

Guess thats why hes working all day today & tomorrow :)

Sorry your dad's poorly. Nice to hear your OH can cope with the chooks when you are away.

I have only had my 3 girls for 2 weeks and hubby didn't want me to have them at all. I had to go away unexpectedly last Tuesday for a few days and thought he would be very unhelpful with the chooks. He was great, fed and watered, opened the eglu, shut them up for bed, he even let them out of the run to free range each day  and yes they followed him around and clucked up to him. Best buddies now (although he would never admit it).

Glad to hear that your OH kept your girls in the manner to which they have become accustomed

Hope you Dad will be on the mend soon

I think that OH's pretend to be not interested, but I often witness my OH chatting away to our lot and picking them up and giving them cuddles when he thinks I am not looking

Yes most a strange old (but beauoootiful) breed indeed!! Bless em.

He even knew their names today, which he has never seemed to grasp before.

He was telling me about Lola, how funny she is standing on one leg & shrieking with excitement on a morning when it was time to open their run, then theres Lil - she's so greedy he says . .. then Medusa . .she doesnt lay but pretends to then the cheek of it, makes such a noise but there's no egg there .. blah blah :)

Father Hen - Bless him & his feathery followers.

Thank you for your kind thoughts & words re my Dad. He is 85 yrs, my Mum is 86yrs & she is his full time carer. Its a bittersweet time, she is having a long deserved rest while he is in hospital but it doesn't look good. Looks like he needs 24/7 care. I've had to return back South & its heart breaking, oh to split into two so I can be present to help and be in two places at once. Thank you again.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad :( . What a difficult time for your Mum too :( . I hope he is on the mend soon  .

Good news about your OH though - means you can go away again with not a care in the world, chicken-wise 8):) .

I was panicking about my OH having to put double the feeders out now we have new girls, but he said he was quite happy to make 2 trips 8) .
