I am the very proud mummy hen of the new girls pictured below. Today is the day I let them free range with my six old ladies! Wish me luck and hope their isn't a blood bath!

I let my lot free range together yesterday. The newbies have only been here since Wednesday afternoon but they all pootled around the garden quite happily, although they stayed at different ends!

What lovely girls . Is the third one down a Cuckoo Maran? She looks similar to my new girl (of 2 days!) Polly .

 

How long have you kept them separate? I'll be very interested to hear how it goes .

Mine is a Blue Maran - we call her Scooter because she scoots around everywhere! What colour eggs do Blue Marans lay?

I have kept them separate for two weeks - but they have been able to see each other through the fence! World War 3 broke out when I first brought them home - so we will see.

 

I'm glad I did keep them separated because one of the girls (not pictured) a columbine called Dotty got a respiratory infection - ok now and "Ooops, word censored!"ody else got it.

 

Mine is a blue maran - can anybody tell me what colour eggs she will lay?

 

Fingers crossed for a good integration!

Well it's now nearly 5pm and the girls seem to have been ok except for a few scuffles! The old ladies just keep chasing them and they run away! So far no bloodbath!
