4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

We currently have a problem that one of our chickens sleeps in the nesting part of our cube, because of this it is always filled with poop. As a result none of our chickens will lay in their.

 

Any ideas how we can prevent this as I had to buy eggs last week and we were getting 6 a day.

 

They arent eating them, have been wormed and red mited so we know this is the problem.

My hens do this as well. I just scoop the poop out in the morning once I've let them out. Vile I know, but my hens don 't mind going in the box to lay poop or no poop. Some people suggest putting something in the nest at night like a ball or a brick to stop them from sleeping in there. Could give that a go!

My chickens also used to sleep in the nesting area of the cube as well and I had to clean out the poo every day, so now I put a sheet of perspex from Homebase ( cut to size) inbetween the nesting area and the roosting area so at night time they have to sleep in the roosting area. Don't forget, like I did, to take out the divider out in the morning so they can get into the nest box to lay. I forgot one day and Mabel gave me a right telling off

When I go out at night to close the door etc... there is usually at least one of them in the nest box... I just poke them into the main cube... they then seem to stay there all night!

I got sick of my girls sleeping & pooing in the nesting box so i put a football in there

You need to take the football out in the morning

It's our ex batts that tend to sleep in the nest box......it doesn't worry me - obviously more comfy for them - I just have a scoop handy each morning.

I only have this problem when one of mine goes broody so I just put one of my boys' footballs in there! Could also use and upturned plant pot.
